From the lens of a Texas wedding photographer who’s seen it all…
Hey, hey beautiful bride-to-be!
This season of your life is full of joy and excitement, planning, all the emotions—and so many choices along the engagement life journey. One of those big decisions? Your Wedding Photographer. Whether you’ve already chosen yours (hi!) or if you’re still browsing for the one, I want to share a few things with you from my heart and lens.
Your wedding day is made up of beautiful memory scenes from your day—the tear in your dad’s eye, the way your partner looks at you walking down the aisle, the laughter with your girls while popping champagne during getting ready. It’s my job to capture those moments so that when you look back 10, 20, even 50 years from now, so you can feel it all over again.
Your wedding photographer is by your side from the very get go-the quiet moments in the morning until the last kiss of the night. That’s why it’s so very important to connect with your wedding photographer on a personal level. We laugh with you, calm your nerves, fluff your dress, fix boutonnières—and yes, we’ll be your personal hype crew every step of the way!
I can’t emphasize this enough—your wedding day timeline affects your photos in a huge way. Golden hour portraits, first looks, family formals… all of these need strategic planning to make sure we capture everything is done without rushing. Don’t worry—I’ll help you build a photography-friendly portrait timeline that lets you actually enjoy your day so you can breathe and soak in your day.
Nervous in front of the camera? So normal. Most couples aren’t professional models (and they don’t need to be). I’ll guide you every step of the way with prompts, movement, and natural interaction so you feel relaxed and are like you and your soulmate. Also, it’s so worth it to show emotions. If you cry, laugh, or have a nervous giggle—I want to see it. Your real emotions are what make your photos unforgettable. You don’t need to hide or perform, but be fully present, and let all the moments that happen on your day unfold itself.
I’ll absolutely photograph your details-rings, florals, dress, and your carefully curated tablescape. But I’ll also be focusing on your people—the way your mom squeezes your hand, your best friend’s speech, your first dance with dad/mom. Those are the treasures you’ll hold closest life long.
We’ve photographed weddings in every season, just about every weather conditions/scenerio, and multiple lighting situations unimaginable. Rain or shine babe, timeline hiccups or last-minute changes—our job is to stay calm and be creative with what were given. Your only job is to be fully present, get married, and soak every bit in.
Think of your engagement session as a warm-up. It’s a chance for us to get to know each other, learn your natural chemistry you have for one another, and ease those “I’m awkward on camera” fears (spoiler alert: you’re most definitely not). Plus, it’s a fun, low-pressure date where you get gorgeous photos and feel more prepared for the big day!
When you receive your wedding gallery, it’s not just hundreds of images thrown together. I’ve carefully selected and edited them to tell a full, cohesive story—from the tiniest tear to the grandest dance floor move. Every photo you receive is there for a reason.
That warm, glowing light right before sunset? Ahhh… It’s pure magic for newlywed portraits. I know timelines get tight, but if there’s any way to sneak away for 10-15 minutes during golden hour, I promise it’s totally WORTH IT, pure gold! These usually end up being some of your absolute favorite shots.
You’ll scroll on Instagram, you’ll post your favorites, but having a printed heirloom album to hold in your hands? That’s whole other level. Imagine this one day, your kids (and even grandkids!) will flip through it and see all the love, your style choice back in the day, and the joy that began your legacy. While your Wedding Photographer still has all your images after your gallery delivery has been sent, order your album so you can look back on your day before your one year anniversary approaches. Having a tangible keepsake you can look back on in your hands is literally priceless and the best investment you can give to yourself.
Yes, this is our creative work, but it’s also our passion. We don’t just show up, click a few buttons, and say, “peace”. We care deeply and we feel the emotions with you. Sometimes we cry during your vows too (true story!) because we are fully invested in telling your story. Wedding Photographers who love what they do want only the very best for you on your wedding day, period.
My Final Two Cents…
Choosing your Wedding Photographer isn’t about just taking pretty photos and a click-and-done type of approach, but so much more. It’s about choosing someone to witness one of the most meaningful days of your life – It’s a very big deal, and I don’t take it one bit lightly. I see the sacredness, the celebration, and the quiet beauty in between and I consider it a huge honor to be part of your story.
Here’s to the beautiful beginning ahead and if you’re searching for a Wedding Photographer to tell your story, I’d love to capture one of the most important days in your life! Ready to document your dream wedding with me? Let’s freaking do this girlie!
